Statement of Faith Section 1.-The Church is: divinely called, redeemed body of baptized believers and a spiritual institution. Section 4. Repentance Repentance is the means whereby men turn to God and are saved by grace though faith. Conversion, cleansing, and acceptance are operations of God’s grace, but are the result of an act of will by man. In choosing to accept God’s gracious offer of forgiveness through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ one shall be restored. a. Acts 2:38 - Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. b. Acts 2:39 - For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. 2

Section 5. Life of Holiness God’s requirement for every believer is a life of holiness and purity. Holiness is purity of heart and motive; it is wholeness of body, mind, and spirit. The Christian is called to forsake sin and walk in newness of life. 3

. Holy Spirit Every believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit. He is given to enable us to live holy, conquer sin, witness for Christ, and grow in grace. To be filled with the Spirit is to be controlled by the Spirit, by divine love and power. 4
a) John 14:16 - And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; b) John 21:25 - And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. c) John 16:13 - Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. d) Acts 1:8 - But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. e) Ephesians 5:17 - Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. f) Ephesians 5:18 - And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

When he is born anew, the Spirit baptizes or initiates the believer into the family of God, which is the church. Since Jesus himself is the door, we do not “open the doors of the Church” but rather reach our hands in fellowship to every born again believer. Early church honored Jesus’ prayer to “keep them in your name” as he prayed to the Father, and we seek to follow their example.
Section 9- The Ordinances Believers should observe the ordinances of baptism, the Lord’s Supper, and footwashing. Baptism is by immersion and speaks to the believer’s relationship to the world; it is a testimony that he has broken friendship with the world, has buried the old life to live in newness of life. Communion symbolizes the believer’s relationship to his Lord, that he, too, is a partaker of his divine nature, of his sufferings, death, and resurrection, and his redemptive work in the world. 6
Feetwashing testifies to the relationship of believers to each other. It tells us that humility is essential to the Christian life and that one is not too proud to literally kneel at his brother’s feet. a) Romans 6:3 - Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? b) Romans 6:4 - Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. c) Matthew 26:26 - And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. d) Matthew 26:27 - And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; e) Matthew 26:28 - For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. f) Matthew 26:29 - But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. g) 1 Corinthians 11:23 - For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: h) 1 Corinthians 11:24 - And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. i) 1 Corinthians 11:25 - After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. j) 1 Corinthians 11:26 - For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

Section 12 -The Kingdom of God The Kingdom of God is a present reality in the hearts of men; it is a kingdom of love and power manifested wherever men submit to the will of God. It will come in its fullness when Christ returns not to set up an earthly kingdom for a thousand years, but to gather the saints and take them back to glory with him. a) Luke 17:20 - And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: b) Luke 17:21 - Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. c) Romans 14:17 - For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. d) 1 Corinthians 15:24 - Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. e) 1 Corinthians 15:25 - For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 9

Section 13 – Divine Judgment All life is under divine judgment. Men will be judged by their words, works, and deeds at the second coming of Jesus, who will come to judge the world with righteousness. The eternal destiny of every man is heaven or hell.
