Methods Of Importing Staad file to Tekla

1. In Tekla uctures, CIS/2 would be a good format to exchange information. You can export the model from STAAD.Pro in a CIS/2 format go toFile > Export and then choose CIS/2 as the output option. I guess the same product was known as Xsteel earlier. Anyway if Xsteel has the capability to import CIS/2, then the same solution applies for Xsteel as well. 2. . Xsteel existed till version 9.1 and CIS/2 was a good format to exchange information. Since version 10.1 Xsteel changed name to Tekla Structures (there was steel, concrete and engineering together). Tekla Structures 11 included instalation of STAAD.Pro 2004. After that short moment of time they do apart and Tekla from version 12 provided a solution that works through open programming interfaces to link the application. You can set supports of structure, loads, loads combination in Tekla and using this module create an analysis model choosing STAAD as an analysis engine. There you can set creation method e.g. whole model or only selected parts, choose member axis location and so on. After that if you have STAAD instaled on your computer it opens and you can do analysis and import results to Tekla. In my opinion this method is better because you're working all the time on the same model and changes made in STAAD are visible in Tekla 3) Tekla use "Analysis & Design Models" dialog box and create analysis model choosing STAAD as an analysis application. Then STAAD starts automatically, you can continue your analysis and at the end close STAAD, back to Tekla and in the mentioned dialog box hit for optimization. Atul Kumar Engineer [email protected]
