Slide Retainers Offers Reliable, Maintenance Free Operation

The Society of Plastics Industry

Progressive Components’ Slide Retainer is the latest component utilizing Friction Free™ technology for retention of a mold's side actions. Now available as standard, the Slide Retainer eliminates the resistance and abrasion that occurs with other slide locking products. Progressive’s exclusive Slide Retention Technology, dubbed SRT, comprises five units in both metric and inch standard sizes. The SRT features a roller that engages into a groove within the side action assembly. An engineered spring has been proven after millions of cycles tested.

The American Mold Builders Association

Advantages for the molder include maintenance free operation, and reliable slide retention. For the mold builder, this item is significantly more compact than other units and easier to machine, yet it holds a greater amount of weight. Suitable for any injection mold application, but especially advantageous in Clean Room, Medical, Food Packaging, or Electronics applications, Friction Free components offer new advantages for molders and mold builders.

UniLifter Ideal for Molding, Releasing Undercuts The UniLifter System from Progressive is the most widely-used standard product for molding and releasing undercuts. Smooth performance is attained due to the U-Coupling design, eliminating wear and binding found in other fixed angle lifter designs.

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers

In applications where space is limited, the MiniLifter Series are compact in design yet allow for standard lifter usage. Progressive’s XL Series UniLifter molds and releases large undercuts and allows details to be machined directly into the core blade. The XL Series core blade may be used as a lifter rod by attaching an insert to it. For molds built to metric standards, Progressive’s Metric Series UniLifters make it easy to ensure smooth undercut molding performance.

It's Been Said... MoldTrax 4.0 is unprecedented in terms of combining ease of use and complete mold maintenance and performance analysis. Max Molenaar, Tooling Engineer at Koller Enterprises, told us the following about the company’s experiences using MoldTrax: “We first implemented MoldTrax by using the IML sheet to keep track of the production runs, and record problems with the mold. This made us aware of maintenance issues or necessary repairs, and we were able to resolve these issues before the next production run. Before using MoldTrax a particular tool could be set in the press, only to be removed immediately to repair a defect from the previous run. Taking into account the down-time of the press, extra work for set-up personnel as well as the time spent by toolmakers, a scenario like that can easily cost the company hundreds of dollars. “Working with the IML sheets prevented at least eight such scenarios during the first 45 days of using MoldTrax, saving the company approximately $5000,” he continued. “Using the information on the IML sheets our toolmakers today perform the majority of their work pro-actively as opposed to re-active, or ‘patching the holes’ in the past.” He continued, “Now with MoldTrax 4.0, we have expanded the use of the program beyond the IML sheets, and we are keeping track of all the maintenance and repair work performed by our tool makers as well as outside tooling facilities. We populate all the information fields in the software including standard components in tooling, and the hourly rates of our personnel. Accurate defect cost analyses per individual mold or as a whole during a certain time interval can now be created. Inside MoldTrax we have added an extensive library of tooling components that provides us with vendor, price and serial number. All of the components are linked to the individual mold they belong to; making the process of re-ordering parts that much easier.” To download a free, 15-day trial copy of MoldTrax 4.0, complete with sample mold data, visit www.moldtrax.com or call 419-289-0281.
