DEFINITION TYPES SOIL CONSERVATION 

TO CONTROL SOIL EROSION

TO CONTROL DEFORESTATION

TO SAVE PRODUCTIVITY OF LAND

Carrying away of soil by wind and water is called soil erosion.

By Wind  By water  By ice  By Human activity 

Wind blows away the top layer of dry soil .It is worse in areas where there are very few or no plants.Duststorms and sandstorms are examples of erosion by wind.

Water also cause soil to be eroded. Some rain water gets soaked into the ground, some evaporates, but the rest of it flows away carrying soil with it.The Chambal Valley in Madhya Pardesh is the best example of soil erosion by water.

Ice is an important erosive force in some parts of the world.Glaciers are effective agents of erosion because they can carry more varied and larger particles than river or wind.

Human being is also responsible for soil erosion. Cutting down of trees by human being leads to deforestation Overgrazing of animals.
