Socio 2-3 Assignment Social Movement LGBT in the Philippines Reason of Social Movement -The main reasons is high percentage of LGBT acceptance in the Philippines (1) the archipelago's historic point of view and respect to gender-shifting and non-based gender roles before the 12th century which have been inputted in indigenous cultures prior to Islamization and Christianization and (2) the current public mediums (television, writings, radios, and social media) that have set a spotlight on the sufferings of countless LGBT Filipinos in their own country due to colonial-era and colonial-inspired religions. Reason of Emergence -To develop a common conceptual framework and approach for SOGI advocacy. To include minorities within the LGBT community in this process, including people with disabilities, seniors and indigenous peoples. To conduct further research on issues of concern and the needs of the Filipino LGBT community covering the thematic areas (i.e. education, health, employment, family affairs, community, religion, media, and political affairs). If there is existing research, this should be made available to LGBT Filipinos. Reason of Decline -The Philippines experience of protecting the rights of LGBT people under eight different areas: education, health, employment, family affairs, religion, community, media and politics, using the same methodology.
