Her mother was a governess. Her mother died 12 days after her birth. Her sister Ernesta / Etta (1852 - 1939). Her father took the sisters to France for a while; came back to PA. At the age of 16, she began art lessons with Catherine Ann Drinker. At 18, she was teaching and giving private art lessons. She did work as a scientific illustrator - drawing fossils. 1924: Beaux breaks her hip while walking in Paris (( 45 Paintings from 1880 to 1928 )) She had a 40 year career. 1930: she published an autobiography, Background with Figures 1933: Eleanor Roosevelt honored Beaux as "the American woman who had made the greatest contribution to the culture of the world". 1942: Died in Green Valley at the age of 87.
