Harmful Chemicals In Cigarettes & Tobacco Smoke Chemicals in cigarettes and tobacco smoke make smoking harmful. Tobacco smoke contains over 4,000 different chemicals. At least 43 are known carcinogens (cause cancer in humans).

Now I have some little examples which shows how dangerous cigarettes smoking are The first substance is tar with smoking a cigarette about 70 per cent of the tar stays in the smokers lungs, which is very harmfull. Nicotine It is one of the most powerful and fast-acting medical and non-medical poison, which causes addiction. Nicotine can be used for medical purposes but as a non medical substance it can be dangerous for the smokers lungs Another substance is carbon monoxide (CO) it is an odourless, tasteless and poisonous gas, which is fatal in large amounts - it's the same gas that comes out of car exhausts and is the main gas in cigarette smoke, when the cigarette is lit. The next substance is a colourless hydrocarbon which is called benzene and this substance comes from coal and petroleum. It is a known carcinogen and also causes leukaemia. Cigaretts smoke contains benzene. The last substance which causes cancer and skin problems which also found in cigaretts smoke is formaldehyde, this substance is a colourless liquid, which is highly poisonous and is actually used to preserve dead bodies.

Now we can imagine how dangerous and poisonous is cigaretts smoking.
