Aim of The Presentation • To familiarize the audience what SMART QUILL is all about. • To explain it’s advantage over other technology. • FUTURE SCOPE of the existing technology.
SMART QUILL • What is SMART QUILL? A pen that can remember the words. That is to write & then transform them in to computer text.

Technical Specification • Display Technology • Handwriting Recognition and Signature verification • Display scrolls using tilt screen • Communication with other devices • Memory • Power
Display Technology •Technology used in Smart quill for display is Kopin corp’s cyber display technology. •Cyber display is a ¼ inch diagonal LCD.

Handwriting Recognition & Signature Verification There are two technology used for this purpose:• Accelerometer technology •Handwriting recognition software
Handwriting transcription
Acceleration signals
Transcription result
Display scrolls using tilt sensors This was done by using Micro
•Electromechanical Systems (MEMS) •The microcontroller read the angle and then mapped the large screen display onto the small 4 line display.
Communication with other devices • communication with the PC via radio transmitter. • It receive e-mails and pager messages via a wireless messaging system.
Memory • It uses 4MB EEPROM . • Up to 10 pages of notes can be stored locally on the pen memory. • The data is stored in the pen locally until it is copied to the Personal Computer.
Power •Smart quill works on AAA battery. It can continuously work 25 hrs with a single AAA battery. •The pen has automatic on/off system. •AAA Battery :Antiaircraft Artillery Battery. •Size:44.5mm Long and 10.5mm in the diameter. •Weight:11.5 gm.
Application • Replace keyboard with SmartQuill • Input to other device • Clock and alarms, calculator • the wireless messaging system which allows two way communications • voice record and supports speech recognition • third party to add on applications

Conclusion • The future of SmartQuill ensures all computation power the user needs right inside the pen. • Reducing the size of handheld computers can only be taken so far before they become unusable. • The introduction of Smart Quill is the best solution for this problem.
