Lecture Notes: Shareware, SAB – BBA 2
Shareware Software developers uses several methods to encourage registration of their software by making their software shareware ( i.e. shareable). Shareware software is made available for PC users via download on the internet or via online services. The shareware may have the limited-feature version or may be for a specific number of days trial period (for example 30-day trial period), may be downloadable with free of cost or may be with some nominal charges. Shareware can be categorized as: -
Standard software: Which have the permission to run the program, ‘x’ number of times or ‘y’ number of days. After that, the user have to pay for the program.
-
Cripple ware: Some features of the program will not work until you pay for the program. There is usually no expiration of these type of software.
-
Free ware: There is no charge at all.
-
Lite ware: Some high-end features are left out but there is no charge.
