[email protected] Shahrukh blames controversy on writing error Shahrukh Khan Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan yesterday denied he had hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims and said his comments to a magazine were misinterpreted due to a writing error. On Thursday, the Mumbai Aman Committee (MAC) filed a police complaint after its members read in the TimeN Style-Luxury magazine that Khan had listed Prophet Muhammad as one of the most unimpressive personalities in history alongside Adolf Hitler and Winston Churchill. But Khan said it was a writing error and that he had named the Prophet among the most impressive personalities in history. Obviously I think that there is no more important figure in history than Prophet Muhammad in the most positive way possible. Also, being a Muslim and standing up for the tenets of Islam is my most important agenda. If they (MAC) have seen my interviews on TV about Islam and Prophet Muhammad, they would know its a writing error and not a thought or view that I believe in, Khan said. For all practical purposes, Prophet Muhammad is the most important positive figure in Islam, he added. The magazine published a corrigendum in all Mumbai newspapers on Thursday accepting the error. The corrigendum stated: This is with reference to the interview with Shahrukh Khan that featured in TimeN Style-Luxury Vol-1 issue: The answer to question According to you who is the most impressive figure in history? should have appeared as: There are lots of them. Some negative ones like Hitler. Then Napoleon, Winston Churchill were impressive. If I can call it history then the most impressive, positive figure Prophet Muhammad and from recent times there are the nice ones like Nelson Mandela, Gandhiji and Mother Teresa. This is a clarification and the error is deeply regretted. A police official, however, confirmed that the case had not been withdrawn even after the corrigendum was published.- IANS REF by GULF TIMES NEWS PAPER

[email protected] Comments on Prophet Mohammad a Writing Error: Shah Rukh A day after a police complaint was filed against him for "hurting religious sentiments" in Islam, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh said on Friday that his comments to a magazine were misinterpreted due to a "writing error". The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged by the Mumbai Aman Committee (MAC) at the Bandra police station here on Thursday after they read in Time'N StyleLuxury that Shah Rukh had listed Prophet Mohammad as one of the most unimpressive personalities in history alongside Adolf Hitler and Winston Churchill. 'Blame it on a typo' But Shah Rukh said it was a "writing error" and that he had named the Prophet among the most impressive personalities in history. "Obviously I think that there is no more important figure in history than Prophet Mohammad in the most positive way possible. Also, being a Muslim and standing up for the tenets of Islam is my most important agenda. If they (MAC) have seen my interviews on TV about Islam and Prophet Mohammad, they would know it's a writing error and not a thought or view that I believe in," Shah Rukh said. "For all practical purposes, Prophet Mohammad is the most important positive figure in Islam," he added.
Correction carried out A corrigendum from the magazine was also published across Mumbai newspapers on Thursday wherein the magazine accepted the error. The corrigendum stated: "This is with reference to the interview with Shah Rukh Khan that featured in Time'N Style-Luxury Vol-1 issue: The answer to question 'According to you (Shah Rukh) who is the most impressive figure in history?' should have appeared as: 'There are lots of them. Some negative ones like Hitler. Then Napoleon, Winston Churchill were impressive. " 'If I can call it history then most impressive, positive figure Prophet Mohammad and from recent times there are the nice ones like Nelson Mandela, Gandhiji and Mother Teresa.' This is a clarification and the error is deeply regretted." Too late? However, an official from the Bandra police station, however, confirmed that the FIR had not been withdrawn even after the corrigendum was published.
[email protected] I Need to Stand for Goodness of Islam, Says Shahrukh
[email protected] http://www.indianmuslims.info/news/2007/ma..._shah_rukh.html New Delhi, March 2 (IANS) He's Islamic by birth, brought up as a Hindu for most of his life and was fascinated by the Ram Lila. But seeing what's happening to Islam around the world, Bollywood's reigning star Shah Rukh Khan says categorically that he "needs to be standing for the goodness of Islam". Unabashedly stating that he is "truly" an ambassador for Islam, Shah Rukh says his fascination with the Ram Lila hasn't changed. "But as I've grown older, and I see what's happening to Islam around the world, I think it's important that even without full knowledge of Islam, I need to be very clearly standing for the goodness of Islam." In an interview with the weekly newsmagazine Tehelka, the star who is married to a Hindu and whose children are being brought up by both religions, says he stands for what a modern Muslim should be. "I'd like people to know that Islam is not only about being a fanatic, or radically different, angered person, or one who only does jehad. I'd like people to know that the actual meaning of jehad is to overcome one's own violence and weakness. If need be, overcome it violently," says Shah Rukh. In a deeply personal interview that gives a rare insight not only into his identity as a Muslim but also a husband, father, son and brother, Shah Rukh says of his elder sister: "My sister reminds me everyday that I cannot have a life like my father's." The superstar, who has often spoken of his anguish at his parent's early death his father when he was 15 and his mother when he was just 25 - speaks at length about his sister who "suffered a lot from their death". "And I had a sister who was not well at all. Lala. She's much better now, but she'll never be fully well. Beautiful girl - physically and mentally, again an MA, LLB (like his father). But no good. After my father died, she got very shocked. Psychiatry wasn't so big then, it took us about four or five years to find help.
Then it took five - six years for her to get very close to her mom, and then her mom died, so she was really shattered. "Medically termed, she had a potassium imbalance. Physically, she started going very wrong." By the time she came to Mumbai, she was really unwell, says Shah Rukh. "It took time for me to earn enough - during 'Dilwale Dulhaniya...' I took her to a doctor in London. Now, she's all right. Matlab, she'll never be fully all right, but she's better than what she was. She lives with me." When he prays, the actor says, the closest he comes to a face are his mother and father - and his dogs! "I love my dog - Chewbacca. Is that blasphemous?" And son I'm son
for those who have often wondered why Shah Rukh Khan talks so much about his Aryan and so little of his daughter Suhana, here's the answer: "It's not that not proud of her. In fact, I'm more proud of her in a certain way than even my perhaps. But I'm shy of women.
"It's very shocking, but even with her friends, I can't play for too long. I think girls should be left on their own. And I've got this thing - I've never seen the inside of my wife's cupboard, or her handbag, or her drawers, or whatever. I've been married since '91, and I can't do it. I think a woman should have a lot of privacy. I'm like that even with my daughter." He admits that most of his closest friends are women - Farah Khan, Juhi Chawla and Kajol - and most his male friends like Karan Johar are not very macho either. About his much discussed "asexuality": "Its not asexuality. I'm just shy of women. I wouldn't know how to pick up a lover. If that's the right word to use." "Sometimes girls say they like me. I don't know what to say, so before she thinks I'm foolish or asexual, I just say something funny. The best way to kill romance is to joke. And, again it's that conservative thing - I can't make the first move..." Often castigated for dancing in marriages for money, Shah Rukh answers why and how: "I do perform at weddings. But it is very difficult to afford what I demand. You have to do it like a show, it has to be in an area where nobody drinks and eats, it will start at 9 p.m. and end at 11.30 p.m., the stage will be 30 by 40 feet, we will make our entries, we will not chat with anyone, we will not eat your food, we will not take pictures with your daughter or daughter-in-law, unless we personally want to. We will come, perform, and we will go away." Discussing films, he says he simply that he doesn't watch them. "I get corrupted. When I see a good film and it doesn't do well, or I see a bad film, and it does well, it confuses me. I saw 'Rang De Basanti'. It was very well done. I was supposed to do a part in it. It was lying with me for about a year.. I was shocked by the fact that I couldn't read into the script. I just didn't see any of it." Shah Rukh also admits that he didn't like close friend Aditya Chopra's hit film "Dhoom 2" because it lacked sensibility.

Karan Johar intensifies research for My Name is Khan Shahrukh Khan Filmmakers have to be careful when making films on subjects that might hurt peoples sentiments. And more so, if the filmmaker is Karan Johar, making a film on terrorism with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. Given the flurry over the actors recent comments on Prophet Mohammad, Karan has gone back to his research books, lest his film, My Name is Khan causes any controversy. Karan knows hes walking on glass here with his film and is taking every precaution to see that he doesnt cross the line. In fact, all filmmakers are putting in extra effort to make sure that they maintain religious and cultural decorum. From Rahul Dholakia, who is making Lamha on Kashmir and the issue of identity in the valley, to Kabir Khan, whose New York is about an NRI Muslims confinement in the US for suspected terrorism, theyre all praying that their sensitive films be taken in the right light. Theyre hoping that the intolerant sections of the society do not raise an outcry for apparent slights to their religion and beliefs. Following the unforeseen volatile reaction to Shah Rukhs statements, Karan is rechecking the facts that form the basis of his research on the film. Reveals a source, My Name is Khan is a new territory for Karan. He has never done such a subject before. Though Karan insists its humane not a political subject, the fact is My Name is Khan is about Islamic isolation and about one individual Muslims fight for his dignity in an increasingly hostile world. The last thing Karan wants is fundamentalist groups questioning him about the film. There are already murmurs of protest against the film and it can be recalled that while shooting in the US, the unit was denied permission to shoot in a local mosque and a few Muslim members of the unit were simply denied visas to go to US for the shoot. Our source adds, Karan is only more adamant now and wont have his film stopped by protestors. My name is Khan and Qurbaan, his films on sensitive subjects continue to have Muslims Shah Rukh and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles. - The Times of India
[email protected] Shah Rukh Khan, publication clarify Prophet comments Shah Rukh Khan says the negative comments attributed to him in Time'N Style-Luxury resulted from a "writing error," a contention that the magazine readily acknowledges. June 19, 2009, (Sawf News) - Shah Rukh Khan says the negative comments attributed to him in Time'N Style-Luxury resulted from a "writing error," a contention that the magazine readily acknowledges. What was printed in Time'N Style suggested Shah Rukh counted Prophet Mohammad amidst the most unimpressive personalities in history along with Adolf Hitler and Winston Churchill. His comments prompted Mumbai Aman Committee (MAC) to file a First Information Report (FIR) at the Bandra police station on Thursday. "Obviously I think that there is no more important figure in history than Prophet Mohammad in the most positive way possible. Also, being a Muslim and standing up for the tenets of Islam is my most important agenda. If they (MAC) have seen my
interviews on TV about Islam and Prophet Mohammad, they would know it's a writing error and not a thought or view that I believe in," Shah Rukh told IANS in an SMS message. "For all practical purposes, Prophet Mohammad is the most important positive figure in Islam," he added. Acknowledging its error the magazine published a clarification in Mumbai newspapers on Thursday. "This is with reference to the interview with Shah Rukh Khan that featured in Time'N Style-Luxury Vol-1 issue: The answer to question 'According to you (Shah Rukh) who is the most impressive figure in history?' should have appeared as: 'There are lots of them. Some negative ones like Hitler. Then Napoleon, Winston Churchill were impressive. " 'If I can call it history then most impressive, positive figure Prophet Mohammad and from recent times there are the nice ones like Nelson Mandela, Gandhiji and Mother Teresa.' This is a clarification and the error is deeply regretted."
[email protected] I am thinking as a muslim Boy About Bad King Khan that... He is married to a hindu actually and the kids are neither muslim nor hindu. There was a documentary made about him and in it, the Quran was placed right next to a hindu God (a statute) in his home !! I once study in nesw paper and saw him in the new where the reported asked him about whether he was fasting during Ramadhan - to this Khan replied, I would love to but its just too hard with the film/shooting committments. So he is not exactly a great role model for muslim youth !! I don't even know why this article is placed in articles under Islam and I am not sure why reporters even ask him to comment on any religion related issues !! If I made any mistake in this article so plz plz forgave me. Thanks, Mr Shad Baloch The Great Shad
