After spending 4 years in Memphis ( 2nd highest crime rate), I felt really safe moving to the suburbs of Fort Worth. I live out near the Hulen mall in a nice quiet neighborhood. Well my nice little house was broken into recently. The worst part about it is that I am pretty sure I saw the guys who did it. We live in a court and constantly have people turning around in it. That Thursday afternoon I was checking the mail before I was getting ready to leave the house. While I was checking the mail I noticed a silver Neon with

bubbly window tinting turn around in our court. There were three guys in the car and they looked a little suspicious but I didn't think anything of it. I am pretty sure they were out canvassing neighborhoods waiting for someone to leave. It was my unlucky day because they saw me pulling out of the garage and they knew no one else was home. So as soon as I left they made their way into my backyard buy pulling on a weak part of the fence. They then pushed in the window panel on our french doors in the bedroom. We have a 3 year old German Short-

haired Pointer who was laying on our bed in the room they broke in. Seeing and hearing her barking did not deter them from breaking in. Unfortunately we did not have a working security system at the time, but we did have a ADT sign in our front yard. This was also not a deterrent. They got away with our Nintendo Wii, HP laptop, and my jewelry box. Luckily no one was hurt and eventually those items can be replaced. I wanted to share this with you because we have learned a lot from this incident. (cont. pg 5).

Be Wise, Immunize! RSA members Merlyn, Sara, Lesley, and Denise made an impact in our community last month by helping out with the Bee Wise, Immunize program. The project is done

through the Immunization Collaboration of Tarrant County. Because of everyone’s hard work, thousands of kids were able to receive their vaccinations. Thanks to everyone who volunteered!

Book Recommendations by Merlyn Savikko “Pendergast is an unique FBI agent who is incredibly smart and mysterious”

I am an avid Mystery/Thriller reader,. My favorite authors are Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.

Suggested Titles: Thunderhead

Thunderhead is my number one favorite. Nora, a female anthropologist discovers mysteries in the Anazazi ruins of New Mexico. It's a page turner!

Riptide

The Ice Limit Mount Dragon

The Relic and Reliquary are the first books of Preston and Child's Pendergast series. Pendergast is an unique FBI

agent who is incredibly smart, mysterious and somehow mostly always right when solving his mysteries. It's a mixture of real life situations with a not -so-real life. As you continue reading these series, characters start to intertwine and solve mysteries together. Enjoy!

Home Safety Make sure to take notes if you see someone or something that looks suspicious. For example I remembered the color and make of the car. If I would have written down the license plate it would have been even better. Another lesson we learned was to write down the serial numbers to all of your electronics. This way if they are stolen the police officers can put those numbers into "the system" and you will have a better

(continued) chance of getting them back. My jewelry box was out in the open on a dresser by the door where they broke in which is why it was taken. If it had been in the closet or somewhere out of view I don't think they would have had time to take it. So try to keep your jewelry out of view. I hope this has helped a little bit to make you more aware of your surroundings.
