ello and welcome to the new school year! My name is Ms. Crowley and I have been teaching the World Cultures class for 4 years. I graduated from Cal State San Marcos with a degree in History, and attended the credential program there as well. I have a love for history, and I hope to be able to share this love with each and every one of you. This year in World Cultures we will be covering most of the recorded history in the world. This will range from Hellenistic Greeks of 323 BCE to the end of the Cold War in 1991 CE. We will be doing group and individual projects, along with homework and tests to help in understanding the concepts of the time periods. I have high hopes for each of you to find a topic in this class that speaks to you, and that you will be able to base your final projects on.
T
echnology will be instrumental in this class. Between research for papers and projects, technology will be used to keep us all connected in the class. For instance: if you have a question about the topic of the day, you can e-
mail/text/twitter fellow classmates for help. I some of you may not have access to a computer at home, so I will be sure to set aside class time to be in the computer lab for our projects. We will have a few periods set aside for us to go to the computer lab and have an introduction to the computer. Here they will teach all of you the basic use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and the Internet. I have the hopes that this will help all of you not only in our class but you others as well.
H
ere are a few tips and ideas to help you all out in this class: Take plenty of notes on each topic that is covered in class. Bring your book to class! Come prepared with your homework done. Participate in class. Questions and comments are always welcome. If you are having any difficulty in the class, please come see me. I am here to help you. Following these few tips, coming to class each and every day, and being prepared, will help to insure your success in this class. I look forward an excited and eventful year!!!
