September 11th The events of the day and it’s aftermath

9/11/01 8:50 a.m. • At 8:48 the first footage of the attack is broadcasted on CNN • Air traffic Control in New York notes that Flight 175 has made a complete U-turn and heading towards New York • Flight 77 makes it’s last radio transmission asking for permission to fly higher

9/11/01 9:03 a.m.

All Flights are Grounded • At 9:26 there is a call to ground all military, civilian, and commercial flights nationwide. This is the first time such an order has ever been given. • At this time the FAA hears suspicious radio transmissions from Flight 93 and suspects it might be hijacked. • Ten minutes later Flight 93 veers off course almost making a complete U-turn and heads southeast.
