24 SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 13TH 2009 PRAYERS FOR THE DECEASED: We pray for our loved ones who have died recently especially Verna Freemark, Rose Marie Kedrosky & Vivian Bolger. PRAYERS FOR THE SICK AND SHUT-IN: “Let us raise up in prayer those who seek God’s healing love, those at the hospital, hospice and at home. May your struggle be consoled by Christ’s love“.
ON OUR WAY WITH JESUS: We will soon begin our year-long program of Sacramental preparation with and for our young people. “On Our Way with Jesus” is a two-part series. In the fall season we look at God’s forgiving love and we arrive at a celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation in Advent. In early winter, we continue with the program leading to a celebration of First Communion during the Easter Season. The program is a family commitment with the support of our parish catechists. Registration form can be picked up at the parish office. Below is the letter addressed to parents of children ready to prepare for these sacraments. September 6, 2009 Dear Parents: Greetings from your Pastor and your Parish Community. A few years ago you made a decision to baptize your child in the Catholic Church. When you made that decision you made a commitment to be the first and foremost teacher of your child in the ways of faith. Many of you have followed that up by regular participation at Sunday Mass and availing your children to special Children’s Masses and to our ongoing Children’s Liturgy on Sunday morning. We, as your parish, are here to encourage you with all the support that we can give. We want to assist you with the decision that you have made. Some of you are active here in facilitating our ministry to children. I wish to express our gratitude to all who have accepted such ministry. Hopefully you will feel called to take an active role in some way in Parish Ministry if you are not currently doing so. I must as well express our support and thanks to the schoolteachers who assist both you and us. Though they can be proficient at teaching Religion, it is YOU who can and must instill “FAITH”, and the practices of our church. Each year we offer a sacramental preparation program for families who wish to assist children to come to the table of Eucharist. “On Our Way with Jesus” is a year-long ongoing preparation of young people. Along the way your child will experience God's love through the Sacrament of Reconciliation and ultimately, next spring, they will receive Full Communion at a Sunday Mass. You and your parish will come together in a special way this year to experience God. We are committed to assisting you in your ongoing responsibility to your child’s faith development. AND SO: - I INVITE YOU AT THIS TIME TO REGISTER YOURSELVES FOR OUR FIRST CONFESSION / FIRST COMMUNION PROGRAM. - WE WILL BE IN REGULAR CONTACT WITH YOU AS TO THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE PROGRAM. - We will pray for you and with you as the year unfolds. Sincerely Rev. Peter Proulx Registration forms are available from the Parish office (432-5825).
