RE: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR

To Whom it May Concern: This is to confirm that Kennedy Krips attended a professional development seminar sponsored by Burman University’s School of Education Educators’ Guild. This seminar took place on the evening of September 27, 2018. The seminar was presented by Elise Kruithof, the director of the Sakala Student Success and Mental Health Centre at Burman University. She discussed passion and fatigue burnout in teachers and the ways in which one can avoid it. Kruithof enlightened students on the difference between burnout and fatigue, signs and symptoms one can recognize as burnout, and ways in which to manage the busy lifestyle of a teacher. She placed emphasis on creating boundaries as a means of preventing one from becoming overloaded. In addition, the students were made aware of the shocking statistics of teachers who leave the profession after only a few years of service. Several worksheets on self-care and time management were provided by the speaker for anyone who attended. The goal of the seminar was to equip future educators with the tools they need to recognize burnout and prevent it from happening. Students who attended the seminar also benefited by interacting with the speaker and voicing any questions or concerns they had.

Sincerely, Melissa Barritt

President - Educators’ Guild
