Selena Quintanilla

Selena Quintanilla-Perez was born in Lake Jackson, Texas to a MexicanAmerican father Abraham Quintanilla and a Mexican/native American mother Marcella Ophelia Zamora. She was a singer who has been called ‘’the queen of Tejano music.’’ At the age of nine her father made up a group name Selena y Los Dinos. She released her first album at the age of twelve. Later recording contract with EMI a few years later. She got married on April 2, 1992 with Chris Perez in Nueces Country, Texas. After a making her dream coming true of singing to people. Selena died on March 31, 1995 in a Days Inn hotel. She was shot by her own friend Yolanda Saldivar she died there from a loss of blood at 1:05 pm at the the age of 23.
