Secretary of The Interior The Department of the Interior oversees such agencies as the Bureau of Land Management, the United States Geological Survey, and the National Park Service. Because the policies and activities of the Department of the Interior and many of its agencies have a substantial impact in the western United States, the Secretary of the Interior typically comes from a western state; only one of the individuals to hold the office since 1949 is not identified with a state lying west of the Mississippi River.

Agendas Conservation America is a nation of beautiful and amazing natural resources, and it is our duty to protect these lands for future generations. Environmental catastrophe looms in the near future, if we don’t do something about pollution and global warming and the like soon. Some noteworthy historical exceptions aside, the Secretary of the Interior can typically be counted on to favor conservation.
