Secretary of homeland Security The United States Secretary of Homeland Security is the head of the United States Department of Homeland Security, the body concerned with protecting the American homeland and the safety of American citizens. The position was created following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The new department consisted primarily of components transferred from other cabinet departments, such as the Coast Guard, Border Patrol, Secret Service, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). It does not, however, include the FBI or the CIA.
Agendas Secrecy The best way to keep people safe is to deny our enemies information. Letting America’s enemies know too much about our government and how it works would make it vulnerable to terrorist threats from within and without. Even sharing information with allied countries means the classified documents eventually work their way into unsafe hands, so we’re better off keeping everything under our hat to begin with. Sharing information with the press is even worse.
