To the City government and people of Broome, Western Australia, It is unfortunate that the town of Taiji, Japan has brought such disrepute not only upon itself but also upon Broome as the Australian sister city to this place of horrific slaughter and corruption. The Shire of Broome must cut off it's ties to Taiji at least until this slaughter ends. Tens of thousands of dolphins slaughtered annually, mercury tainted dolphin meat being deliberately mislabeled as whale meat and given to schoolchildren in what amounts to a toxic lunch program for children. Taiji City councilmen have had their lives threatened for daring to speak out against the poisoning of their own children. Surely Broome cannot remain silent and surely Broome cannot be seen to condone this cruel and ecologically ignorant activity.

Australians have demonstrated a great compassion for whales in dolphins worldwide. I appeal to you to take the time to view "The Cove" to see what is occurring in your sister city. I appeal to you to send a strong message to the town of Taiji. You all have the power to make a stand on this issue that will help end this horrific killing. Please send that message today.
