LSI San Diego Vacation Request Policy LSI San Diego has developed a Vacation Policy based on the Code of Federal Regulations: (CFR: 8 C.F.R. 214.2(f)(5)(iii)): “Requires students
(in such programs) to have spent the equivalent of an “academic” year before they are eligible to take a break from studies that would be covered under this regulation.” What an Academic Year means to you: You must also meet ALL of the following before you can take a vacation: • You have completed 16 weeks of Intensive 30 OR • 20 weeks of Standard 20 • You have 4 or more weeks remaining • You have a minimum of 80% attendance • You can only take one vacation You may take 1 to 3 weeks of vacation. Please talk to the Director of Studies first and then the Registrar ahead of time. F1 visas: You must indicate whether or not you wish to have your I-20 extended for your vacation or if you will complete the course in your 60 day grace period after the I-20 ends. If you live with a host family or have other accommodation with LSI, please talk to our Accommodations Coordinator, if you wish to remain in the accommodation during the vacation period. You must pay for the time you are gone in order to keep your place in the accommodation. I understand the above-mentioned policy and acknowledge the fact that if I am ineligible for a vacation and choose not to attend class, I understand I may be out of status with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and may have lost my legal status to remain in the United States. I also understand that I may not receive a certificate of completion for the course. ______________________________ Student’s Signature
