~ OVERVIEW ~ Five goals have been selected as our focus for the 2008 - 2009 school year:

1. Health and Wellness 2. Mentoring Program 3. Student Assembly Program 4. Community Outreach 5. Financial Management

~ GOALS ~ GOAL ONE

Health and Wellness Expanding beyond the material and information covered in our health classes, the Council will work to identify major health and wellness focus areas. Information programs and campaigns will be built around these themes.

GOAL TWO

Mentoring Program Our advisor-advisee program has been adjusted each year. The format for 07-08 will be repeated in 0809. The aim of this focus will be to help select topics for discussion between teachers and students as well as develop an evaluation instrument.

GOAL THREE

Student Assembly Program Following the success of the presentation by Dick Beardsley and the Mock Car Crash, an assembly program focused on significant student issues will be developed. There will be an aim of at least one assembly per marking period.

GOAL FOUR

Community Outreach Examine the possibilities of connecting teens with senior citizens. The aim will be to evaluate areas of interest, review the current community service aspect of junior year and integrate the National Honor Society and Rotary’s “Interact” Program.

GOAL FIVE

Financial Management Acknowledging that the practical elements of credit, loans, bill paying, investing etc... are not well understood by students, this goal will be to explore ways to have students more financially savy as they leave high school.
