Compiled for academic scholars, researchers, and other individuals as well, including foreign nationals.

2. Awards Almanac: An International Guide to Career, Research, and Education Funds, 1996. Edited by Miranda H. Ferrara and Sandra Jaszczak. Detroit and London: St. James Press, 1996 Described over 2,500 awards to individuals from English-speaking countries “to continue their education or to pursue career –related activities.” Does not include awards for undergraduate students, nor awards that fund only organizations.

3. Directory of Fellowships, Scholarships, and Grants Available in the U.S. to African Women Students and Scholars. By Aili Mari Tripp. Madison, WI: University of Wisconsin. Women’s Studies Research Center, 1995. Series: Working Paper #15. Intended for African women looking for funding from U.S. foundations, organizations, and university-affiliated programs. Compiled especially for graduate students, researchers, and visiting scholars.

4. Directory of Financial Aid for Women, 2003-2005 By Gail Ann Schlachter. San Carlos, CA: Reference Service Press, 2003. This directory includes nearly 2,000 financial aid programs designed primarily or exclusively for women of all educational levels, and covers funding for travel, research, study, career development, and any other “innovative effort.” A fair number of opportunities are listed for female citizens of various countries outside the U.S.

A comprehensive directory listing nearly 6,000 funding programs for research-related projects in medicine, physical and social sciences, the arts, humanities, and education. For many grants, there are no citizenship requirements as long as the applicant is already enrolled in a U.S. educational institution.

Information on financial assistance available exclusively for foreign nationals, specifically for pursuing all levels of postsecondary educational objectives in the United States. It includes aid available from public and private sources both in the U.S. and abroad.
