rabbit 3000 as ftp server ftp(file transfer protocol):- ftp or file transfer protocol is used to transfer data from computer to another computer over internet or through a network. specifically, ftp is a commonly used protocol for exchanging files over any network that supports the tcp/ip protocol (such as the internet or an intranet). there are two computers involved in an ftp transfer: a server and a client. here we have two computers in which one computer is connected with rabbit 3000 which acts as server (ftp server). rabbit 3000 is configured with ipaddress, netmask, default gateway. some files are stored in one of the computer where rabbit board is connected. what ever the file, either it may be .pdf,.doc,.gif etc.if want to download this file from one computer to another computer. then we have to follow this commands. 1. click start option. 2. type "cmd"in run option 3. type "ftp" and also the ip address to which your rabbit board is connected. for eg:- ftp 192.168.1.6 4. then you will get a command on your screen as " connected" 5. it will ask the login name and also the password.

for eg:6.

login name:foo password: bar then your computer will act as "client" to the

"server" 7.

now do the following command operations:a. if we want to download any file then type the

commands as for eg:- ftp> get or ftp>recv b. it will ask where the file is located the give the path eg:- ftp>remote file (give the file name with extensions as .pdf, .gif, .doc) ftp>remote file london.gif c. after that it will ask where the file has to be

download. eg:- ftp> local file (specify the path where it has to be download) ftp> local file c:\documents and settings \ staff \ desktop \ sajid then the file london.gif file will be downloaded in to your computer. we will be having lot of commands to work with the files on ftp. some are mentioned below: get put recv send

pwd mdir mkdir dir

connect disconnect ascii binary

8. now same as if you want to send or upload any file from your system to the other system i.e from client to the server. 9. then we have to follow these steps 10. a. ftp>send or ftp>put b. it will ask you from which location the file has to be uploaded for eg:- ftp> local file c:\ documents and settings \ staff \desktop \ sajid \ london.gif c. and also we have to specify the where the file has to be downloaded on other system. d. for eg:- ftp> remote file (give the file name) ftp> remote file sajid.gif e. now the file london.gif is being uploaded from client system and stored as sajid.gif in server system. 11. not only this two commands we can also see the files on the server by typing "dir" 12. we can also create directory on the client as mkdir 13. we can also list the files by using the commands "ls". 14. we can also know on which directory we are working presently by typing the command "pwd". so this are the steps which i had done to configure the rabbit 3000 as a ftp server and also downloading, uploading the files from or to the server and the client and also vice versa.
