An Example of a Daily Lesson Plan using the 4-phase Teaching Model/Learning Cycle Subject: Class: Date: Time: No. of students: Learning Area : Learning Objective:
Physics Form 4 Bakti 25 Mei 2009 8.00 am – 3.30 pm (30 minutes) 37 students Forces and Motion Being aware of the need for safety features in vehicles
Learning Outcomes: At the end of the lesson, a student is able to: A
Master content knowledge a. Identified eight of safety features in car b. Explain each function of the safety features in car. c. Describe the importance of safety features in car.
B
Master Scientific Skills/TSTS a. Observe and explain based on video of vehicle collision. b. Communicating skill by answering the questions.
C
Demonstrate Scientific Attitudes and Noble Values a. Appreciate the relevance of science learning to their lives. b. Appreciating the contribution of science and technology
Scientific Concepts: The reason why should wear a safety features in vehicles is based on physic concept: a. Momentum b. Inertia c. Impulse force Materials, equipments and resource materials: Notes on PowerPoint slides, video Consideration of Safety Precautions: Always think of wearing safety feature wherever you go. Think before you drive. Prior Knowledge: Students have already learned the inertia concept, momentum and impulse force.
Phase Introduction/ Eliciting Ideas (5 minutes)
Content Definition of safety feature.
Teaching and Learning Activities Teacher Activities Student Activities Asking questions to Students elicit students’ ideas. respond to teacher’s Example : questions If you have a car what is the importance features that the car has?
Notes
Strategy/Technique: Whole class Q&A
What do you understand by safety feature? Structuring/ Restructuring of Ideas (15 minutes)
Research and report on the physics of vehicle collisions and safety features in vehicles in terms of physics concepts Discuss the importance of safety features in vehicles.
View the video about vehicle collisions and ask student to observe and explain the situation based on physics concepts. Ask two central guiding questions: What are the safety features and how do their function? What is the importance of safety features in vehicles? Show a list of the safety feature in the car. By grouping (5 group only), they will be given one safety feature per group. Ask students to discuss the importance of the safety features given. Within 5minutes
Students make observe and explain Students discuss the importance of safety features Students present their opinion
Strategy/Technique: Video Slide presentation
Group discussion
student will come out with their opinion and idea about the safety features given. Ask student to explain the result of the discussion. Application of Ideas ( 5 minutes)
Solve the Ask student to answer problem based on the situation given the situation given
Reflection/ Closure (5 minutes)
Remind back the importance of safety features in vehicles.
Show learning outcomes. Show a picture of a car in the power point and ask student to fill in the blank. Give some question to student to enhance their understanding. Give homework and reading assignment on Understanding Gravity for the next lesson
Students respond to teacher’s questions
