Ms. Saba Abashawl Biography Saba Abashawl is the Managing Director of Development for the Houston Airport System, City of Houston. She directs economic development, global commercial relations and development programs that include real estate marketing, promoting Houston for corporate expansion and/or relocation and air service expansion. The Houston Airport System generates over $24 billion in impact on the Houston economy. Saba is the City of Houston lead liaison to Department of Homeland Security-Customs and Border Protection, Department of State, and Department of Commerce for the development of innovative solutions to improve the entry process. Houston continues to be a Model Port of entry and the site for testing new procedures. She developed and implemented the City’s international business development plan encompassing 26 institutions and established Houston as the permanent Secretariat of the World Energy Cities Partnership whose members are 15 global energy cities. As senior officer, she has effectively served two Mayors of Houston, 4th largest city in the U.S. Saba received her Masters in International Finance and Business from the University of St. Thomas. She serves on the World Trade Supervisory Board, Houston Consular Corps Task Force, GHP- Economic Development Advisory Committee, and the U.S. District Export Council. Her professional affiliations include: Houston Committee on Foreign Relations, Texas Medical Center, and the Houston World Affairs Council.
