1. (a) Illustrate the constructional details of an I.C. engine? Explain briefly about important components. (b) With neat sketches, explain the working principle of 4-stroke S.I. engine. 2. (a) Explain the principle of operation of gas welding with neat sketch. (b) Explain the equipments and materials used for arc cutting. 3. (a) Explain with a neat sketch, the working principle of standard shaper. (b) Explain the different types of bull dozers with suitable applications. 4. (a) Describe with a neat sketch the working of vapour compression refrigeration system. (b) Briefly explain the principle of operation of a milling machine. 5. (a) Derive the emf equation of DC Generator. (b) Determine the value of torque in N-m established by a machine of a 4-pole motor having 750 conductors, two paths in parallel, 20mW b per pole when the total armature current is 60 amperes. 6. (a) Explain the principle and operation of single phase transformer. (b) A transformer with 800 primary turns and 200 secondary turns is supplied from a 100V AC supply. Calculate the secondary voltage. 7. (a) Explain the principle of operation of alternatives. (b) Explain the slip torque characteristics of 3 − φ induction motor. 8.
