ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION ON UNIVERSITY PROGRAM ACCREDITATION: PROCESS AND EXPERIENCE The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) with support from the International Association of Universities (IAU) based in UNESCO Paris organized a roundtable discussion with the Chairman of the University Grant Commission, Prof. Nazrul Islam as the Chief Guest. Six (6) Vice Chancellors of the leading universities in Bangladesh, 3 Pro Vice Chancellors, senior officials of the Ministry of Education and University Grant Commission, senior officials of AIUB participated in the one-day roundtable discussion held in Hotel Eastern Residence, Banani, Bangladesh. A team of 5 senior officials, namely: Dr. Venus Quevedo, Dean Servillano Marquesz, Dr. Carl Miniano, Dr. Myrna Anes and Ms. Erlinda Gonzales from Adamson University served as resource persons. The program was formally opened and the participants were warmly welcomed by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of AIUB. During the welcome message, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, presented the Rationale and Objectives of the roundtable discussion and the background of Leadership Development in Higher Education reform (LEADHER Program) as a pilot project. As a reciprocal visit after the Learning Visit 1 of the senior officials of AIUB and the UGC Chairman to Manila, Philippines, the partner university came for the Learning Visit 2 and presented a profile of the university including the process of accreditation observed in the Adamson University. The draft of the Institutional Self-Survey Instrument as a main tool for initial step of the accreditation process was discussed by Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dean of the FASS, AIUB. To acknowledge the usual support and concern for the private universities including the challenges and inspiration posed to the participants, Prof, Nazrul Islam was presented a Plaque of Appreciation and to the Team on behalf of the partner university, Adamson University, Manila, Philippines.
