Roles and Responsibilities of the School Program

The School Program consists of the following positions: Program Director –Mai Lee Volunteer Coordinator- Rita Davis Works with Kathleen, Mai, Barbara, and Gwen School Site Coordinator – Barbara Taylor This position works closely with the Program Director Classroom Coordinator – Gwen Vigon This position works with the Teacher and coordinates with the School Site Coordinator. Teacher –Joan Lescne Works with the Classroom coordinator

Program Director (Mai Lee) The role of the Program Director is to support the Executive Director in program implementation and to provide logistical support to the teachers and volunteers.

A. School Site Coordinator The role of the School Site Coordinator is to develop the relationships with the Principal, teachers, counselors, and students within the school. Responsibilities: • •

Works with the School to identify an on-site contact to work with the Crown Jewel Club. Ensures that there are students for the class.

Marketing of Program • • • • •



Responsible for generating enthusiasm for the Crown Jewels Club within the school. Coordinates with the on-site person and the girls parents, siblings and school staff Develops a method to tell the School staff and girls about the Crown Jewel Club Makes presentations at staff meetings about the club. Goes to classes and make a brief presentation about the Crown Jewel Club Updates through out the year to school staff the achievements made by the Crown Jewel Club

Classroom Support • • • • • •

Make sure that permission slips are given to the girls interested in the CJC Collect the permission slips and accept only the first 20 girls Provide a list of the girls names for Jane Create name tags for each girl and name place card settings for the tables Make sure the children get to the class Introduce Jane Phillips to the girls Take individual pictures of the girls during the first class

Program Support • • •

Support the Holiday and End of the Year Party with a helping hand and supervision Support all Teas with a helping hand and supervision especially while the girls are getting ready Support all Crown Jewel Club Fund Raisers through out the year

B. Classroom Coordinator The major role of the School Coordinator is to serve as a support to the teacher during the seven week class It is the job of the School Coordinator to: • • • • • •

Make sure that all supplies are purchased for each class Bring supplies from the warehouse to the class Assist teacher in setting up class for each lesson Make sure that there are snacks and water for each class Help in keeping the room atmosphere conducive for learning Assist Teacher before and/or during the lesson

Interact with the students in the class Ensure that there are the required volunteers scheduled for each class Develop a relationship with a group of women who can be relied upon to help in the class.

C. The Classroom Teacher The Teacher is responsible for conducting the 7 week 2 hour program.-

D. Volunteer Coordinator Position -Open This position organizes individuals who have expressed an interest in volunteering for the Crown Jewel Club. Initial responsibilities: • • • •

Clarify with Jane or Kathleen general area for volunteers Name each volunteer opportunity Succinctly summarize volunteer opportunities (in writing) These can also be listed on the website for informational purposes

On-going responsibilities: o o o

Drafts email message (or phone script) to be relayed to potential volunteers Receives phone number or email address of individuals interested in volunteering Makes contact with potential volunteers, welcomes them and give them a brief description of the Crown Jewel Club; finds out what area each individual is interested in volunteering Sends (email) potential volunteers a list of available opportunities (or refers them to volunteer opportunities listed on website) Follow-up with potential volunteers - answers any questions; inquires again about areas of interests Puts potential volunteer in contact with appropriate person at the Crown Jewel Club for further information
