Attachment Assembly

Review all installation instructions before proceeding with the assembly.

NOTE: The Slide Down Ladder Rack is intended to carry ladders on your roof top. Masterack offers Crossbow Tie-Down Kits for additional security (optional). Before using, make sure that the Crossbows are securely mounted to the vehicle as described. DO NOT OVERLOAD the Ladder Rack; this may pose a safety hazard and damage to the vehicle could occur. Failure to assemble and install the Slide Down Ladder Rack system per instructions and/or the mounting of ladders in excess of the recommended lengths and/or operating the system other than in the recommended manner, will void all express or implied warranties. WARNING: SLIDE DOWN LADDER RACK IS DESIGNED TO ACCOMMODATE UP TO 32’ EXTENSION LADDERS ONLY!

NOTE: All assemblies shown are for curbside installation. For streetside installation, reverse front and rear tube weldment so that handle is at rear of vehicle. 3

STEP 1 Unlatch GRAVITY LATCH to release HANDLE. Rotate HANDLE to drop CHANNEL SUPPORT. See Figure 10.

STEP 2 Connect STOP PADS (Item 3) to ANGLE WELDMENTS (Item 4) using (1) 5/16" FLAT WASHER (Item 29), and (1) 3/8" LOCKNUT (Item 26) per Stop Pad. See Figure 11.

STEP 3 - Front & Rear Channel Supports Pull the ANGLE WELDMENTS to the bottom of the middle slots in the CHANNEL SUPPORTS (Item 5), away from the large slot, and below anti-skid tape. Attach the ANGLE WELDMENTS to the middle slots in the CHANNEL SUPPORTS using (2) 3/8" x 1" CARRIAGE BOLTS (Item 17), (2) 5/16" FLAT WASHERS (Item 29), and (2) 3/8" LOCKNUTS (Item 26) per Angle Weldment. The bolt heads are on the underside of the CHANNEL SUPPORT. See Figure 12.

STEP 4 - Rear Channel Support Place SECURITY HOLD DOWN (Item 38) in slot with bend facing inward. Attach to REAR CHANNEL SUPPORT only using (1) 5/16" HEX NUT (Item 23), (1) 5/16" LOCKNUT (Item 24), (1) 5/16" EXTERNAL TOOTH WASHERS (Item 31), and (2) 5/16" FLAT WASHERS (Item 29). To adjust the height, move HEX NUTS up or down for proper fit depending on ladder. Move the SECURITY HOLD DOWN within slot inboard or outboard for final adjustments. Tighten all fasteners. See Figure 12.

STEP 5- FOR REAR STOP BRACKET W/ HYDRAULIC ASSIST

If Hydraulic Assist is NOT included, repeat Steps 5-6 for Front Stop Bracket Install

Manually lower CHANNEL ASSEMBLY. Remove CARRIAGE BOLT - 3/8"16 x 3/4" from rear of HYDRAULIC ASSIST to HYDRAULIC BRACKET. Pull HYDRAULIC ASSIST out of the way. See Figure 14.

STEP 6 Remove top CARRIAGE BOLT 3/8”-16 x 1” from bottom of channel assembly (Item 10). Replace same bolt loosely, while including STOP BRACKET on top and turn to the side for access to lower bolt.

NOTE: DO NOT REMOVE TOP BOLT CONNECT ING HYDRAULIC ASSIST AND CHANNEL ASSEMBLY. Remove bottom bolt (Item 10) and replace STOP BRACKET loosely in position. Some rear crossbows will include HYDRAULIC BRACKET on bottom.

FLUSH

STEP 7 Align top of STOP BRACKET (Item 2) with CHANNEL ASSEMBLY (Item 4). See Figure 15. Before completely tightening, be sure crossbow and CHANNEL ASSEMBLY are aligned at large hole openings. Tighten top bolt and bottom bolt of STOP BRACKET. Slide LEATHER TRIM (Item 3) on STOP BRACKET.

Adjustment Screw

TIP: To adjust ladder rack for the first time, tighten adjustment screw all the way clockwise. Rotate screw counterclockwise 1-1/2 turns. Rotate Slide Down handle to see if movement of ladder rack is acceptable. Adjust screw accordingly based on user requirements.

GRIP SIZE Stops can be adjusted by loosening carriage bolts and sliding stops up and down on ladder rack.
