IMPORTANT •
A limited number of applicants will receive funding for travel to Performance Monday in Brisbane on 17 July 2006 as part of the VIII World Shakespeare Congress. • Applicants are reminded that they should not make any financial commitment expecting that they will receive funding. Eligibility • The application for a travel grant provided by the Department of Communities is open to young professional artists, artsworkers or cultural workers from regional Queensland. The artists, artsworkers and cultural workers must: * have specialist training in their field (not necessarily in academic institutions); * be recognised by their peers (professional practitioners working in the artform area); *be committed to devoting significant time to the artistic activity; and *have a history of public presentation. • The successful applicants must be able to demonstrate the benefit of attending Arts Queensland Performance Monday • The successful applicants must be residents of regional Queensland and be aged over 18 years and under 26 years. Regional areas include larger urban growth centres close to Brisbane , such as the Gold Coast, Logan and Ipswich, regional centres, rural and remote areas and isolated communities across Queensland. • The successful applicants will receive up to $500 travel allowance, provided by the Department of Communities and complimentary Monday registration, provided by Arts Queensland. Successful applicants will receive the following entitlements as part of their day registration: * access to keynote addresses, panel sessions and seminars presented on Monday 17 July * opportunity to participate in a limited number of workshops and masterclasses * admission to industry exhibition * morning and afternoon tea * a satchel containing Congress handbook and other Congress material * admission to networking cocktail function at the Supreme Court

All additional expenses, including Brisbane travel and accommodation, are the responsibility of the applicant.

ACTIVITY DETAILS VIII World Shakespeare Congress Performance Monday to be held at Brisbane City Hall on Monday 17 July 2006 Arts Queensland Performing Shakespeare Monday The program for Monday 17 July 2006 has been developed to allow a number of key international and national performers and artists to explore Shakespeare in performance. Sessions currently include a keynote lecture and masterclass with acclaimed director Gale Edwards, a discussion about Shakespeare and Dance with Lar Lubovitch, Director of the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, New York and rehearsed reading of Al-Asadi's Forget Hamlet. A number of limited number workshops will also explore specific aspects of Shakespeare in performance. A limited number of grants have been provided by the Department of Communities and Arts Queensland to develop the creative and entrepreneurial skills of young regional Queensland artists and arts workers by enabling them to participate in this exciting program.
