What
is Rhogam Test? - This is used to prevent the immunological condition known as Rhesus Disease. - Rhesus is a hemolytic disease of the newborn RhoGam is administered to Rh-negative mothers to prevent her own antibody formation in response to Rh positive fetal blood cells which could endanger future Rh-positive infants. 2 types: Mild-Anaemia with RETICULOCYTES. Moderate/Severe-More anaemia and Erythroblastosis fetalis.

Uses The
medication has an FDA Pregnancy Category C. It is given by intramuscular injection as part of modern routine antenatal care at about 28 weeks of pregnancy, and within 72 hours after childbirth. It is also given after antenatal pathological events that are likely to cause a feto-maternal hemorrhage. Anti-D is also a relatively new method to treat Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura patients who are Rh+. However, is not recommended for post-splenectomy patients.

The antibodies in RhoGAM® Brand are derived from human plasma that has been carefully screened and processed for purity. When injected, the RhoGAM® Brand antibodies circulate in the Rh-negative mother’s bloodstream and prevent her immune system from making the sensitized antibodies that would threaten a baby with Rh-positive blood.
