Policies

Before reading through the detailed class policies, I have a list of four specific behavioral patterns that I find annoying. Patterns of tardiness Patterns of absenteeism Going in and out of the classroom while classes are going on Patterns of “making excuses”

Policies On General Classroom Behavior The rule is simple and universal. Treat everyone in the same way that you expect to be treated. On Classroom Attire Wear whatever suits you. On Lateness and Cuts You are expected to arrive promptly for the 330PM class. You will be receive a cut if you come in after I have taken the attendance. However, strive to come to class, even if you are already late and marked absent. If you go beyond 9 cuts, you will be dropped from the class list. On Going Out of the Classroom I will only permit three reasons for going out: LBM, incontinence, and life threatening situations. If you go out without permission, you will be marked absent. Going out to print a paper or to get something you forgot to bring to class will mean risking a cut. On the Use of Gadgets Laptops, Digital Cameras, and PDAs are the only legitimate gadgets that you can use during the class. Doing other things impertinent to the class is strongly discouraged (websurfing, working on other papers, etc.) Use of mobile phones or phone functions (e.g. taking/making calls or sending/reading SMS to friends/family) for multi-functional gadgets (e.g. smartphones) are also strongly discouraged. Keep your mobiles on silent mode.

Policies On Class Announcements and Assignments View the class site regularly. All announcements, assignments, and most of the references for this class will be posted and made available through the class site. On the Submission of Papers and other Requirements You are expected to comply with the deadline. I accept late requirements but they will be marked F. Essays that need to be submitted online must be submitted in *.doc format. On the Observance of Instructions Guidelines, Deadlines, and Formats are given to facilitate efficiency. You are expected to comply to ensure that efficiency is maintained. On Plagiarism and Cheating The university policy regarding plagiarism and cheating will be strictly observed. Cite your sources, please.

On Appeals Regarding Grades and Cuts Talk to me at the beginning of the semester if you foresee difficulties regarding grades and cuts. If you approach me at the last minute, you might find that circumstances will not be as favorable.
