The school’s Family Well-being room went under refurbishment. £4500 of kitchen facilities were gifted as sponsorship for the project! Jan/Feb x 6 weeks Dance aerobics class

Treorchy Primary School teacher, Alex Pugsley, has been selected as a Get Set Champion by the Olympics Get Set programme in the lead up to 2020. Charity/fundraising match, supported by school PTA, with funds going towards sustainability of project. July 2019. Teams created with staff members and parents/family members.

MORE people, MORE active, MORE often! We want to provide increased opportunities for our pupils, parents, families and the wider community to participate in physical activity and health and well-being events for their benefit of their lifestyles.

Year 6 Well-being Warriors visited local businesses to spread word of the project in an attempt to gain funding and sponsorship.

Partnerships were developed with local business groups and organisations providing funding to support the project.

News travelled fast! Many letters and emails of support were received, with local MP Chris Bryant visiting the school to talk about the project and its aims during the year.

The newly refurbished facilities will support cookery classes, healthy living classes, health and hygiene courses, accredited courses with qualifications for parents and community members.

Plans are in place to establish a ‘Junk Food Café’ in the Well-being Centre for one day each week. This is supported by the distribution centre in Swansea and local supermarkets.

ACTIVE NUTRITION RHONDDA

We linked up with ‘Play it Again Sport’ as part of an Active Citizenship project. Pupils, parents, staff and community members donated unwanted sports gear which will be recycled to community members at a low cost. The aim is to provide kit for people to be active at an affordable cost.
