Art 1 River High School
DUE: 9/ /07
Revelation Using two facing pages of your sketchbook (the back of one page and the front of another page…think magazine spread), refer to the list you compiled of the “TEN THINGS YOU DID NOT CONSIDER TO BE ART or ARTFUL BEFORE TODAY…and WHY”. Collect as many physical pieces of evidence relating to your list (and you!) as you can. Artfully arrange both your evidence and the text from your list on the two facing pages in your sketchbook. You must also consider your background…no white should be showing from your background, unless it is part of your overall design. Think of creative ways to incorporate your background, text, and evidence into one cohesive, unified design. Let “YOU” shine through your work. (Be sure your name is on the inside cover of your sketchbook!)
Self-Assessment: Grade yourself based on the following criteria after you have completed the visual journal assignment. Objectives: 5pts _____-You used two facing pages of your sketchbook for your design. You have included at least ten pieces of “evidence” from your list AND your reasoning for why you now consider it to be art. Design: 5pts _____-There is no white showing in your background. You have creatively arranged your evidence AND text over the two facing pages so they appear as one unified design. You have considered how the viewer’s eye will travel around the paper. Studio Skills: 5pts _____-You used a wide range of materials and attached them in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Presentation: 5pts _____-All materials have been CAREFULLY and neatly adhered to your pages (no tape or staples…they tend to appear sloppy!). Your work is evident of quality time, thought, and care.
