Eleanor McMain Magnet

Naturally Nawlins

As the march of time continues Ten years have passed since that spring afternoon when we marched across the stage of The Mahalia Jackson Theatre of the Performing Arts. Through the years, our lives have been touched by so many important events, places and people. It is the bond that we shared with our junior and senior high school classmates that will forever linger in our hearts. Over the past ten years we have experienced one of the worst natural disasters in history, witnessed the deadliest terror attach on American soil and elected the first African American President of the United States. Our lives have been forever changed by personal experiences, triumphs and failures, yet the memories of our days at Eleanor McMain Secondary Magnet School have kept us grounded and pressing toward a bright future. This momentous occasion is a great opportunity to recall those who have made a difference in our lives and careers. Use this time for sharing those cherished and enduring memories and friendships of an earlier time. Let us not only rekindle relationships from the past, but also take this opportunity to develop new friendships. Make the most of this time together and Party Like It’s 1999!

It's funny how the good ole' days are always applied to a time that is a least 10 years before the present. Perhaps this is because with maturity, we realize how great it was to be a teenager- with no real responsibilities, and wonderful memories of how care-free we were in our 'own-worlds”. But our “own-world” quickly became the real world, bringing with it bills, great responsibilities and more bills.

when I was young, I’m not a kid anymore-but somedays I sit and wish I was a kid again.

Certainly, there are great blessings that come as we become adults, such as fruitful careers, families and independence. But take moments to reflect on how great things use to be.
