RESUME – English version GILBERTO CIRO FERREIRA, 52 Academically, is bachelor (1976) in languages and literature by the University of Santos, São Paulo, Started his Professional career as translator and Portuguese teacher. Shortly afterwards, engaged in the commercial sea transportation in the port of Santos, basically in export processing, cargo handling and ships operations. After working for five years with cargo and ship operations , started in ships chartering in the capital of São Paulo taking over the dry bulk cargo chartering division of Transatlantic Carriers Group. His deep knowledge of chartering affairs and entrepreneurial drive were soon recognized by the company and market. 1983 – consultant of multinational steel mill – Belgo Mineira/Arcelor Group, in Belo Horizonte, in charge of organizing their export and shipping division. 1985 – sets up a cargo broking firm – Doulos Chartering – specialized in the dry bulk sector. The company grows dramatically and was soon a leading organization in its niche, servicing large Brazilian industries and foreign trading companies. 1990 - sets up a ship operating company – Tyler Chartering (UK)Ltd , in London– living there for two years and keeping residence and office for twelve years. Through strategic partnerships, two operating companies were created: Siderbulk (specialized in the sea transportation of steels) and Worthington Bulk (specialized in grain transportation). Both companies gain leading position in its niches , moving annually 4 million tons of cargo with usd 45 million turn-over, servicing leading grain houses. 1993, sets up a Brazilian ship owning company – Docas Navegação Marítima – which is granted concession by the Brazilian Transport Ministry and entered Joint-ventures with renowned global carriers. 2000, takes equal share stake at Realbulk Shipping Ltda, Rio de Janeiro, owner of a 12000 tons capacity vessel. Company is currently under dissolution. 2001, disposal of his shares in the ventures abroad (Tyler and Worthington), dedicating to institutional and Public affairs related to sustained development, Public-Private Partnership in Federal and State (Minas Gerais) levels. 2002 - Awarded with the prize for Merit Order of the Municipality Council of Belo Horizonte for its relevant services and distinguishing achievements to the Minas society. 2004 – founded MINASINVEST Development Alliance, a Public-private partnership/agency for the socio-economic development of the State of Minas Gerais. Presently, he takes part of their board of directors 2005 – founded BioVale Energia – a socially responsible company organizing a pool of expertises in the biodiesel productive chain for the poorest region of Brazil, Vale do Jequitinhonha with the full backing of MG Government and R&D institutions and several other organizations with emphasis in poverty alleviation.
