Time Dilatation Time dialation is when time slows down for an object and space increases. It happens when the object moves. When the object moves in the space-time grid space increases and time decreases. For everyday movements, time dilatation isnt noticeable, but for speeds close to the speed of light it is noticibal. In fact at the speed of light time is 0 and space is infinate!

Time Dialation Time dialation is when time slows down for an object and space increases. It happens when the object moves. When the object moves in the space-time grid space increases and time decreases. For everyday movements time dialation isnt noticable, but for speeds close to the speed of light it is noticibal. In fact at the speed of light time is 0 and space is infinate!

Gravitational Time Dialation Since gravity is a distortion of space-time it also time dialates. For instance, if you lived all your life at the sea level you would be ever so slightly younger if you lived all your life at Mt. Everest. This time dialation is unnoticable but if you lived all your life near a black hole you would not even get older, because blackholes have an extreamly high force of gravity.

Length Contraction Lenght contraction is when the objects around you become flat. Suppose you are time dialating, all of the objects around you are becoming slightly flat, but as you accelerate the objects are becoming flatter, as you approach the speed of light the boject becomes infinatly flat and disappears. The equation for length contraction is, L=Lo*the square root of (v^2/c^2) where L is the length of the object at stationary, Lo is the length of the mover, v is the velocity, and c is the speed of light.
