Who are refugees? Refugees are people who are forced to leave their country and live somewhere else.
Why are Colombian Refugee’s leaving.
Because of a civil war inside the southern part of Colombia.
How many are displaced or are refugees in all of Colombia? There are about 1.4 million Refugees in Colombia. 180,000 of those are still in Colombia but can not find anywhere to go.
Where are they going? Most have taken refuge in the southern part of Ecuador. Then some go to the U.S.
Why cant Refugees get into America? Because of post 9/11 laws refugees can not take refuge unless they have a passport. All of their papers got burned down with their houses.
What is U.S. doing to help? They are building new homes in Ecuador or in northern part of Colombia. So they have at least a place to live.
What are they doing to survive? Most are working in the three new rubber manufacturing plants in northern and southern Ecuador.
When should it return to normal? Well right now it is as worse as it can be. Kids are waiting on the side of the road for food.
