What does the refrigerator do? Stores foods at low temperatures, to inhibit the destructive action of bacteria, yeast, and mold. Why is the refrigerator important? It keeps are food cold. We want to keep our food cold because it slows down the bacteria process so you can keep your food for a longer period of time. Example: If you kept your milk out on the counter then it would get spoiled or sour in 2-3 hours. If you keep it in the refrigerator then it can last up to 12 weeks at a time.

The refrigerator came out with different models of refrigerators. Mini ones, one with multiple doors, built in freezers, etc.

The first refrigerators were made of stamped out metal parts with fiberglass or cork in between the panels for insulation, they had rubber door seals, all copper coils, and was powered by Electric or Gas.
