REFLECTION PAPER

HENERAL LUNA

Heneral luna is the best General the Philippines has ever had. His tactics and the wits to fight the Americans have proved this. He is also a proud and great leader where he united and bought about a lot of Filipino to fight against our common enemy. He is respected and even feared by our own government because of his naughty attitude where his not even afraid to speak badly about the president, because of these he made lot of enemies even inside our own government but also because of this attitude a lot of Filipinos admired him, they’ed follow him anywhere he goes and supports his decisions and trusts him in leading them to victory, they are very loyal to the point where they are willing to die in the battlefield for him. Even though General Luna is seen as a tyrant he is very good to the people around him especially to those people who are willing to die for the country like Lt. Garcia where he bravely shoots an American general while having dinner under the order of General Luna, this is also why a lot of cabinet members dislikes General Luna because he always acts on his own, even though Genaral Luna has this bad attitude he always respects Pres. Emilio Aguinaldo’s decisions.

President Emilio Aguinaldo is seen as the most important person during this time he’;s been respected even by General Luna, Pres. Aguinaldo has a right hand named Apolinario Mabini, he is a constitional adviser to the revolutionary government. Also under the cabinet members of Aguinaldo is Pedro Paterno he is a poet and politician who signed he pact of biak na bato there is also Felipe Buencamino was also a lawyer and a leader for the revolution. At that time a lot of cabinet members and soldiers disliked General Luna because his harsh actions towards others but what they do not know is that General Luna is only doing it because no else can, especially those times where the Philippines is in great crisis because of the Americans. A lot of Filipinos where slaughtered and even tortured to death. That is why I think that General Luna stood up and was the one who disciplined the Filipinos in this time.

General Luna is great soldier and a when it comes to war, he is also a great leader whenever he had trouble with is comrades and the government but what we don’t know is that he also fights a war of being a son and a lover. His lover Isabel did not want him to be involved in the war and his mother would always worry for him.

I think the person who killed General Luna was Pedro Paterno. He organized the assassination of Luna with the Americans because he hated Luna so much. Also i think he received blood money for it. But even though General Luna died at the end of the film giving it a sad ending, I will still treasure all of the positive lessons and lines he taught me and reflect on it for it shows bravery and patriotism. One of my favorite lines in the film was “Mas Mabuti pang mamatay sa digmaan kaysa Mamatay sa ilalim ng pangaalipin ng mga dayuhan” this lines means that we should always strive hard if we want to gain something, because if we don’t try even before the trials/problem have arrived we’d already lose the fight.
