Plainfield Redevelopment Summary October 5, 2007 Step Description City Administration recommends area(s) in 1 need of redevelopment to City Council The City council Directs the Planning Board to undertake a preliminary investigation to determine whether an area is in need of 2 redevelopment. The Planning Board conducts an investigation and holds public hearings on the proposed redevelopment areas as requested by City 3 Council Based on the Planning board's recommendation, the City Council may designate all or a portion of the area in need of 4 redevelopment. The Coty Council directs the Planning Board to 5 prepare a redevelopment plan The redevelopment plan is prepared and the Planning Board conducts public hearings on 6 the plan. The City Council introduces an ordinance, provides a public hearing and adopts the 7 redevelopment plan. 8
The City Council conditionally designates a redeveloper.

The City Administration, the City Council, and the Redevelopment Agency (UCIA) and the developer negotiate a developers agreement. The City Council authorizes the Mayor to sign the redevelopers agreement.

The City Council, the City Administration, and the Redevelopment Agency monitors the implementation of the redeveloper agreement.
