RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS We as a team after completing our research work on the topic “Police conduct in Bhopal towards accused, victim, complainant and general public would like to give following recommendations for the betterment of police department:

RECRUITING ADEQUATE NUMBER OF POLICE OFFICERS: The first and most common problem that we discovered in all the police stations that we visited was the lack of adequate staff because of which it was nearly impossible for the police department to fulfill all its duties because every single officer feels overburdened with work, specially the lower level officers. So we would like to recommend that adequate number of staff should be recruited in the department so as to divide the work evenly amongst the department and increase the efficiency of the department. FITNESS ROUTINE: We depend on police department for our safety and security. The question is how a bunch of unfit officers would protect us? Today the police department consists of 90% unfit officers which is a huge problem for the nation’s security. So, we would like to recommend that the police department should pay special attention towards their fitness and should make a fitness routine plan which would help all the officers to stay fit and increase their efficiency at work. SALARY INCREAMENT: After talking to police officers we got to know that the officers work for more than 12 hours a day because of lack of adequate staff. For months they work without taking any holidays. But their salaries are nothing compared to the work done by them. This dissatisfaction leads to lack of loyalty and deduction in the enthusiasm towards department and their duties/work. So we would recommend that they should be paid a fair amount of salary. PROPER INFRASTRUCTURE AND FACILITIES: The police officers told us that the infrastructure and the facilities are insufficient and improper. There is no proper furniture, and sanitation facility and water filters are also unavailable. So we would like to recommend that:    

Proper furniture should be installed in the police stations. Each police station should have a separate room for the staff to have their meals. Proper sanitation facilities should be provided. They should be provided coolers in summers in the areas where the temperature rises above 35 degree.

 Proper water filtration system and water coolers should be installed.
