This recipe has been handed down for the last four generations from mother to daughter. While we have each helped make the cookies every Christmas, the actual measures and specific ingredients have been carefully guarded. When each daughter is married, she is finally given the actual recipe. I am probably breaking rules by putting this one in print! We make these cookies about two weeks prior to Christmas to give to freinds and neighbors, and then again on Christmas Eve to leave out for Santa. They are carfeully decorated and only the best ones are given away on the goodie plates. On Christamas Eve we put a plate full by the stockings, along with a tall glass of milk and a small plate of carrots and apples for the reindeer.
