SENATOR-ELECT SMUCKER ANNOUNCES STAFF SELECTIONS Senator-elect Lloyd Smucker has filled two key staff positions as he prepares to represent the 13th Senatorial district. West Lampeter Township Manager Ray D’Agostino will be Chief of Staff. “Ray brings proven leadership and management experience to the position,” stated Smucker. “As an official in West Lampeter, I admired Ray’s commitment to providing top notch constituent service and ensuring that government ran efficiently and effectively. I am pleased that he has accepted the position, ” added Smucker. D’Agostino served for eight years as West Lampeter’s Township Manager. “While I will miss working day to day with my colleagues in West Lampeter, I am honored to work with Mr. Smucker in serving the citizens of the 13th district and meeting the challenges facing Lancaster and York Counties,” stated D’Agostino. According to James Kalenich, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, West Lampeter Township will immediately begin a search for a new manager. “We are extremely proud of Lloyd and Ray for their invaluable service to the community and wish them well as they continue to serve and represent us in Harrisburg,” Kalenich stated. D’Agostino will continue to work with the Township during the remainder of the year as they finalize the 2009 budget and search for a new manager.
Smucker has asked Mitch Hanna of Senator Armstrong’s staff to stay on and serve as the Lancaster district office director. “As a top aide to Senator Armstrong, Mitch has a wealth of experience in providing constituents with excellent service. His extensive knowledge of the community and contacts is a great asset,” stated Smucker. Other positions on Smucker’s staff will be filled before he begins work as a State Senator on December 1. Newly elected state legislators take the oath of office on January 6.
