Question: How does the amount of water in the big bottle affect how far it flies? Prediction: If we use less water, then it will fly higher because it doesn't weigh as much. Distance flown depends on amount of water in main bottle Amount of Water (ml)

Source: Kelsey, Kelsey, Marcie Controlled Variables: Bottle size, wing size, type of wings, angle, where we shoot it Materials: 2 liter bottles, 20 ounce bottles, duct tape, cardboard, markers, water, launcher Procedure: 1. First take the paper off the bottles 2.Then fill the little bottles with 150 ml of water. 3.Cut the wings to be 12x6 cm 4.Cover the wings with one layer of duct tape 5.Attach them to the big bottles, 11 cm apart 6.Attach the little bottle to the bottom of the big one with duct tape 7.Mark the big bottle at 500 ml, 750 ml, and 1000 ml 8.Fill to the lines and launch twice for each amount of water 9.record data Conclusion: Our conclusion is that when we added less water, the rocket flew further. When we had 500 ml of water, the rocket went about 85 meters, when we had 750 ml of water, the rocket flew about 93 meters, and when we put 1000 ml of water in the bottle, the rocket flew about 76.5 meters. Something that we could have changes is to double check the same amount of water is in the bottles. We also could have made sure the weather was the same. Our prediction was right because the bottle went 93 meters when we had the least amount of water. It didn't go as far when we used 1000 ml of water. We didn't get a chance to do a smaller amount of water, but if you did, according to our graph, it should go more than the farthest one and most likely about 100 meters.
