#4 Question 1
This letter is being addressed to all my fellow colleagues concerning the vital importance of teaching music in your classrooms on a regular basis. Music can be incorporated into several core subjects in order to enhance the learning experience for each student. Learning music helps students develop and improve their literacy. Music requires the learner to read, write, and verbally respond to printed words called lyrics by singing. In addition, music can be integrated across the curriculum by teaching one core subject with musical accompaniment. One particular instance involves learning the planet’s names by singing a song dedicated to our solar system. I encourage everyone to learn how to incorporate music into your classroom by joining me in a training session where we will share ideas on how to use music as a tool to enhance the academic experience for our students. The training session will include activities for the students to develop their spatial awareness and fine motor skills. Also, there will be hands on body percussion activities for the students to learn about rhythm. Using music to teach elements from multiple core curriculums will be made available so students can benefit from their lesson while enjoying the information. I hope that you will all join me to keep music in your classrooms for the benefit of our children in order for their educational achievements to blossom. Music is not just about singing, playing, and dancing, it is developing young students minds to allow them to reach their potential in a safe environment. Music also lets students express their ideas and observations in an artistic manner that translates into other aspects of their lives.
