12TH ANNUAL POETS & WRITERS PICNIC AUGUST 22, 2009, 2009, SHAFFER HOTEL, MOUNTAINAIR NM
This popular annual spoken word event takes place from 12n – 5 pm at Mountainair’s historic Shaffer Hotel, in the tree-shaded garden behind Pop Shaffer’s famous folk art wall, 2 blocks south of the intersection of Routes 55 & 60. Free admission. Featured readers & open mic. Bring a picnic lunch, or enjoy local dining. Emceed by Kenneth Gurney and Dale Harris. Featured Readers are Gary Brower, Nancy Costea, Jim Fish, Gary Glazner, Lisa Gill, Tamra Hays, Kate Horsley, Jessica Helen Lopez, Beth McDonald, Mitch Rayes, Bob Reeves, and the Albuquerque Word Weavers Writing Group: Chandra Bales, Karin Bradberry, Merimee Moffitt, Sylvia Ramos, Kate Padilla, and Elaine Schwartz . Music by The New Mexico Celtic Singers: Jenn Brooks, Michele Buchanan, Nancy Costea, Erika Kretzmann, Mary & Dusty McDaniel, Cory Johnstone Meyer, Gwen Montgomery, Scott Sharot, & Kathy Wimmer; and LuLu, Lou Blackwell & Greg Candela. Sponsored by the Manzano Mountain Arts Council in conjunction with the annual Sunflower Festival.
