First of all I would like to say that this is my first newsletter in English. So don’t be too hard on me. Things here in Jamaica are good. I can finally say that I have learned to balance work and rest in a way that I am not always tired. At the moment I am mainly working in the arts department. I have spoken time and time again about the influence of the arts. It has the power to shape those around us. Being aware of this I am currently teaching the DTS students a couple of skits and dances to use on their outreach in St. Vincent. I am also working with the children in the community where our campus is located. We gather with them every other Saturday to have devotions and learn different art forms that they perform in their community. Aside from that we are also organizing an arts camp for them in December. Lately I have also been learning a lot of lessons concerning faith. The Lord has taken me countless times to the story of Abraham and Isaac (Gen 22:1-19). God asked Abraham to sacrifice his long awaited son Isaac. But God was not interested in the boy himself, He was interested in seeing Abraham's faith and willingness to surrender something close to his heart. And because of his willingness God spared the boy's life, provided the ram for the offering and promised Abraham one more time that he will be blessed. This is the God we serve, a God who protects us (Ps. 91:11), provides for our needs (Phil 4:19) and is always willing to bless us (Ps. 37:4). Out of one mans obedience a nation was born. "What do we have in our hands?” Faith requires action (Jas 2:17). But the only action we can take as humans is to give all that we have. And God will do the rest. So let me share with you a little bit about what I would consider as my biggest step of faith so far. A few years after my decision to give up dance, the Lord started to speak to me about dancing again. My first reaction was "never again". But the Lord continued to
show me how He has given me this gift and that He wants me to use it to disciple young people. After a while I started to understand. But, I didn't even know where to start. Then the Lord led me to do School of Performing Arts (SOPA), where I started dancing again. While on outreach I met a girl who did School of Dance Studies (SODS) with YWAM in Montana. As soon as she mentioned it, I knew that God was showing me to do that same school. And even though I didn't have the strength in myself to even start the audition tapes for the school I asked the Lord for His strength and creativity. What the Lord spoke to me during that time was "put on your dancing shoes". After I did, things started coming together. Nevertheless, there were various instances when I thought I could never make it, even after I got accepted. Instances like; not receiving enough information from the school, the school dates changing from September to January, not receiving my visa papers, and the greatest challenge of all…..no finances. Even through all of this, the Lord has continued to tell me to step out in faith, with what I had at that moment. And that's exactly what I've been doing. As you can see my budget for SODS is almost $10,000 US. And currently I have no idea where it will come from. But what I do have in my hands is the ability to pray and ask you to join me in prayer. And if you feel led to give do not hesitate to do so. Because it might be what you have in your hands. at the moment.
