Psych 1 Phobia project

Social phobia, called SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER, is often catalyzed as a fear of speaking, eating, or performing tasks in public. Social phobia is described as the fear of being watched or judged. Symptoms include blushing, profuse sweating, trembling, nausea, and difficulty talking when in the presents of others. NIMH estimates that social phobia affects about 5.3 million adult Americans. Women and men are equally likely to develop social phobia. Social disorders normally start when the person is a child and can be inherited. My next phobia is agoraphobia which is defined as the fear of wide open spaces, crowds, or uncontrolled social conditions. Agoraphobia is sometimes mild or can, in rare cases, be so severe that leaving even a room could cause a panic attack. As far as treatments go there are medications and therapies design to help people with the phobia. Medications and therapies include the “exposure therapy” were the person who has agoraphobia is exposed to crowds and open spaces. Medication wise antidepressant and anti-anxiety medications are used to treat agoraphobia.

My third phobia is autophobia. Autophobia is defined as morbid and pathological fear of being alone. Autophobia is sometimes referred to as monophobia and isolophobia. Some of the symptoms of autophobia are Irrational fear being egotistical or being alone Feeling of panic, Feeling of terror, Feeling of dread, Rapid heartbeat, Shortness of breath, Trembling, and Anxiety. Autophobia has many treatments like

Psychiatry (Mental Health), Addiction Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry (Seniors Mental Health), Pediatric / Adolescent Psychiatry (Child/Teen Mental Health), Pediatric Developmental Behavioral Health (Child Behavior Specialist), Psychosomatic Medicine, and Forensic Psychiatry. My fourth phobia is the fear of women called Gynephobia or Gynophobia and the fear of men called Hominophobia. Symptoms of these phobias include women Feeling of panic, Feeling of terror, Feeling of dread, Rapid heartbeat, Shortness of breath, Trembling, and Anxiety when in contact or close to a male or female. Gynophobia and hominophobia isn’t just fear of men or women it can also be a compemt or extreme hatred of women which can result in violence, so treatment should be sought after being diagnosed. My fifth phobia is the fear of heights called Bathophobia. People with bathophobia usually get this phobia when they experience a traumatic event in their early lives. Symptoms of bathophobia include dry mouth, heightened senses, breathlessness, feeling dizzy, muscle tension, hyperventilation, trembling, rapid hate rate, feeling of being trapped, feeling of being unable to escape, and the instense feeling of impending disaster. My sixth phobia is the fear of flying called Aviophobia. This is not the same as the fear of heights. Although a fear of flying can be caused by a fear of heights or even a fear of small spaces. The fear of flying is considered to be one of the more serious phobia.
