King’s college Annual open day 2008-2009 Detailed Proposal of St. John Ambulance Society Name of organization: St. John Ambulance Society Title: OUR DAILY LIFE IN ST JOHN AMBULANCE Board display: Wordings: Background of St John Ambulance: Hong Kong St. John Ambulance is a charitable organization with a long history stretching back over a century and has been serving the community since 1884. In Hong Kong, the St. John Ambulance Association was established in 1884, followed by the Ambulance Brigade in 1916 and the Council in 1949. Adhering to its motto, "For the Service of Mankind", the organization is dedicated to providing First Aid and ambulance services in emergencies, dental care for the handicapped, and courses of instructions on First Aid and Home Nursing for the general public.

What is King’s Ambulance?

The full name of King’s Ambulance is King’s Ambulance Cadet Division. It is one of the divisions under the Hong Kong St John Ambulance Brigade Cadet Command. King’s Ambulance was formed in 7-12-1968. This year is its 40th anniversary!! Activities: General meeting: We have a general meeting every Saturday. During the meeting, we have foot drill training and first-aid and home nursing training, and we play games.

Services: We provide social services, for example crowd control and first-aid posts at public events, and visiting the elderly. We also have first-aid duty at school during recess and

lunch time .The medical inspection room is on the UG floor. Competitions: To increasing interest in first-aid and home nursing and teach the relevant skills, the Hong Kong St John Ambulance Brigade Cadet Command would holds competitions for all cadet divisions in Hong Kong. Camping: Our division always organizes a camp during long holidays. We can learn a lot of useful skills in the camp. In the summer holiday, there is a camp for all divisions in Hong Kong.

Game stall 1) Introduction As the theme of our display board for open day is to introduce our life in St John Ambulance, we decided to ask some questions. The competition will be announced on the board. (IS THIS WHAT YOU MEAN? – JOHN WYSE ASKS!) Simple gifts will be given out.

2) Procedure First of all, we will need 5 cards with the questions printed on them. Turn over the cards and let the visitor pick one of them. We will give a souvenir to visitors whether they answer correctly or not.

Duty list of receptionists: (Attached) Ways to prevent miss-duty of the receptionists: We will record the ones who miss their duties and punish them in our meetings. This will be told to them so the chance of miss-duty happened would be decreased.
